If you want to build software utilising the Sports API and offer it to third party application users then you should join the Software Vendor program

The Software Vendor’s license allows you to use the Betfair API to create applications to sell to third parties either for private or commercial use. There are two different Software Vendor’s licenses and a Historical Data license available:

  • Software Vendor (Personal End User)
  • Software Vendor (Commercial End User) API
  • Historical Data License

Software Vendor (Personal End User) API

Full Access API

Personal Application Users are customers who will utilise your applications for personal use only. Betfair will provide personal application users Full API access free of charge.

Software Vendor (Commercial End User) API - Full Access

Commercial Application Users are those customers who wish to make use of your applications in a commercial manner that goes beyond personal use, e.g. publishing Betfair prices or any other information derived from Betfair, or companies that have customers themselves, such as bookmakers. Commercial Users will be charged a monthly subscription by Betfair, dependent on the size of their business.

Please note: you, as the Software Vendor, will be responsible for all support & communication for the users of your applications.

Historical Data License

Any distribution of Historical Betfair Data or the tools to help build a Historical Betfair Database requires a Historical Data License. ‘Historical Betfair Data’ means any Betfair trading data (such as prices and volume) that relates to a settled market. This data can be generated and distributed in a number of ways. Two examples are:

  1. Allowing users to archive data from live before a market is settled so that the data can be interrogated in a database after settlement
  2. Making data files available after a market has been settled

Providing live market information such as an advanced version of our Market Info graph (accessed by clicking on a selection name on our website) which is not available for interrogation after settlement is not regarded as Historical Betfair Data and comes under the terms of the Software Vendor license.

You must have a Software Vendor license in place before you may apply for the Historical Data license. Please contact us for further information.
